About Procurement & Contracts

Who we are

A division of Business and Financial Services, Procurement & Contracts is the office assigned the formal delegation of authority to commit university funds to purchase goods and services for the institution. Procurement & Contracts is comprised of professionals with specialized experience and training in contract negotiation, supply chain management, business consulting, and sourcing commodity expertise.

There is a central pool of procurement and contract professionals assigned to support the broad academic, research, and administrative units at UC San Diego.  There are also satellite offices set up to support a specific unit's mission to provide vital services to our students, faculty, and staff including Housing, Dining & Hospitality, Auxiliary & Plant Services, Scripps Institution of Oceanography, and STORE.

In addition to these specific procurement units, affiliated support functions for Strategic Sourcing, Marketplace and Small Business provide platforms to sustain and influence all procurement & contracting activities for UC San Diego.

What we do

One of the primary functions of UC San Diego Procurement & Contracts is to ensure that all conduct in reference to the procurement of goods and services on behalf of the university is in accordance with the procedures set forth by the Regents of the University of California the office of the President.

We also work to guarantee that procurements follow applicable laws of the State of California, and meet requirements from our extramurally funded sponsors including federal and private interests.

It is the responsibility of Procurement & Contracts to ensure that the requirements for competition in any business transaction have been met, negotiations been conducted according to established policies, and no conduct of compromise to the public trust is present.
