RECEIVING AND DISTRIBUTION SERVICE

PROPER ADDRESSING OF YOUR PACKAGES IS ESSENTIAL!!!

The staff at UCSD Receiving area process a large volume of packages daily (approx. 1500). In order to cut processing time and ensure that your packages will be delivered by the next day, it is advised that the proper address be on the material.

ADDRESSING OF YOUR PACKAGES

(Packages going to Trade Street)

Please inform the vendor to place all the pertinent information on the label of your package.

PROPER ADDRESSING FOR PERISHABLE/URGENT PACKAGES

(Direct delivery to your location)

If you are expecting a PERISHABLE/URGENT package that meets any of the criteria below, please request the vendor to send the goods DIRECTLY TO YOUR LOCATION at UCSD and bypass the UCSD Receiving Department. By using this method you will receive your package without a 24 hour delay at UCSD Receiving.

         CRITERIA

A.       Perishable requiring storage below -20 F

B.       Goods requiring same day delivery

C.       Perishable deliveries for Fridays or on days preceding holidays.

To have perishable packages sent directly to you via... FED-EX, AIRBORNE, DHL and UPS (Next day/Red packages ONLY), please have the vendor address accordingly:

NOTE:  To arrange same day pick-up, call 536-3225 option 4 first to verify your 
package has arrived.

PACKAGE INQUIRIES - WHERE IS YOUR PACKAGE?

The Receiving Division receives and processes all incoming packages from outside vendors and the UCSD Storehouse. Packages are delivered by our Distribution Service. Inquiries regarding the status of incoming packages should be directed to the following phone numbers. Please call the appropriate number and have the requested information handy so that the status of your package can be researched quickly.

UPS will be deliver direct if :

UPS red label.

Exact address building and room number (NO MAIL CODE).

Refer to PPM 524-2 for additional receiving procedures.

DAMAGES AND SHORTGAGES

MERCHANDISE ORDERED THROUGH UCSD STOREHOUSE

If a damaged item is received or you did not receive your full order call 536-3225. Your damaged item will be picked up and a new item will be reordered. Please keep all original packing material and a copy of the Storehouse Requisition with the item. Your missing item wil also be reordered.

Report incident within FIVE WORKING DAYS from receipt of your package.

IMPORTANT!

REPORT INCIDENT IMMEDIATELY..No later than five days from receipt date

OBTAIN ALL ORIGINAL PACKING MATERIAL..

CALL 536-3225 FOR FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS.

MERCHANDISE ORDERED THROUGH AN OUTSIDE VENDOR

If you placed a low or high value IFIS purchase order with an outside vendor and the item was delivered damaged contact the Shipping Division at 536-3225 as soon as possible.

Your item will be picked up and brought to Shipping at 7835 Trade St. Suite 100. A claim will be filed iwth the carrier who delivered the goods. Most carriers are strict regarding time limitations and obtaining original packing material. Refer to PPM524-7 for detail information on Freight Damages and Claims.

IMPORTANT!

REPORT DAMAGE IMMEDIATLEY..No later than fifteen days from receipt date.

OBTAIN ALL ORIGINAL PACKING MATERIAL.
