SECTION 1
STIP PROCESS AT OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT

The Treasurer's Office at Office of the President (O/P) invests available University cash in short term securities called the Short Term Investment Pool (STIP). Quarterly, total Pool earnings are distributed among individual UC campuses. The distribution is based on the campuses' average daily cash balances held at O/P. Please see Section 5 for the approximate STIP distribution schedule.

Example 1:

For a recent quarter, the O/P average daily cash and invested cash balances for all campuses combined was $3,306,000,000. Per O/P records, UCSD's share was $288,000,000, or 8.71%. Total Pool earnings were $50,000,000. Thus, UCSD's 8.71% share was $4,400,000 before O/P adjustments for bank fees and related administrative costs of approximately $100,000.
